Porsche 914 VDO Gauge Restoration LED Upgrade Kit

This DIY kit will transform your aged 914's gauges and upgrade them to the best LED lighting all in one shot. You can replace plastic lenses with glass, repaint your faded needles, replace degraded color lens filters, clean the dust and bugs out of the dials, do repairs and refinish the bezels off of the gauges. The LED upgrade in this kit has been engineered to be best looking and most effective lighting solution for 914 gauges. Gauge specific led strips produce equal and even light to the white printed dials, light where it should be and dark where it should be. Designed for each gauge to match the other perfectly in intensity using one variable dimmer switch. Just like your TV, your cell phone, modern gauges or a good pair of sunglasses, the dark lens aids in contrast and glare reduction resulting in the ultimate in gauge readability day and night.

Kit comes with pre cut, pre soldered high quality COB (continuous) led strips with 3m super adhesive. Quick wire connector, plug in replaceable dimmer, piggy back connector for fuse panel power, new SS ground nut with star washers. New indicator lens filters, fluorescent needle paint and the 3 Dark Smoke Tinted glass lenses. A modified paint can tool is included for removing the lens rings.

Kit includes a perfectly sized waterproof COB led strip for each gauge. The bright white 6000K strips has the thick 3m adhesive that stays stuck to the inside of the case. LED strips are soldered to leads long enough to remove each gauge without disconnecting them. They converge into a single quick latch connector making wiring clean, easy and disconnect possible. Ground lead has a soldered loop and is the correct length to bolt to the factory ground stud with provided SS nut and ground washers. Positive lead has molded jack plug that simply plugs into the rotary dimmer and connects with a removable spade terminal to the fuse box. No modification to the 914 wiring of any kind is needed. All connections are soldered and wire ends are tinned with solder. The wiring can all be disassembled as fast as it is assembled. Plug-in Dimmer can be unplugged and replaced in seconds if ever needed.

Fitment:

This kit fits all Porsche 914 4/6 '70-'76 with single window(fuel) combo gauge. If your combo gauge has extra gauge movements (oil pressure, temp...) You should use an extra LED strip for each window.

Installation:

• Truly Plug and Play wiring
• No wire cutting or soldering of the 914 harness(or the led harness)
• Gauge LED's have long leads and quick disconnector. Individual gauges can be pulled out for service
• A Single Grounding loop connects to the factory dash wiring post (above the fuse panel) with a new Stainless steel nut & star washers.
• A single power lead clips to fuse panel (1/4" spade piggy back) giving several 'on' choices - key on hot, always hot, hot headlights on....
• Dimmer unplugs from both ends and easily mounts under steering wheel to the flat bottom of the metal dash with strong double sided tape. Hidden but easily adjustable while driving and doesn't interfere with legs, knees or getting in and out., or driving or shifting.
  This location is perfect, but it of course can be mounted anywhere.
