Porsche 914 VDO Gauge Restoration LED Upgrade Kit

This DIY kit enables a first-class restoration and lighting upgrade that will truly enhance your 914 driving experience. The LED kits were designed to increase readability during the day while driving, as well as night, hence, 'Daytime running gauges'. The dark lens not only gives a modern look, but when adjusted to only half brightness, produces gauges that are easier to read than stock units during the day or night. And they will go even brighter. The result is instruments that are easy to read at a glance, reduce visual fatigue, and perfected lighting that was not possible when new. With the clear or the dark lenses, you will be able to more quickly read your gauges at a glance during spirited driving.

What This kit does:

This all-in-one restoration and LED upgrade transforms aged 914 gauges in a single process.

In one day You can:

• Replace plastic lenses with real glass
• Restore faded needles with fluorescent paint
• Replace degraded color lens filters
• Clean dust and debris from inside the gauge
• Refinish bezels and internal components while apart
• Upgrade to even, modern LED illumination

The result is gauges that are readable, balanced, and correct — light where it should be, dark where it should be.

Each kit includes:

• Pre-cut, pre-soldered high-quality COB LED strips (one per gauge)
• Waterproof LED backing with 3M adhesive
• Quick-latch wiring connector
• Plug-in, replaceable rotary dimmer
• Piggyback fuse connector for power
• Stainless steel ground nut with star washers
• New indicator lens filters
• Fluorescent needle paint
• Three dark smoke-tinted glass lenses
• Modified paint can tool for removing lens rings

All wiring is soldered, tinned, and designed to be fully removable and serviceable.

Fitment:

This kit fits all Porsche 914 4/6 '70-'76 with single window(fuel) combo gauge. If your combo gauge has extra gauge movements (oil pressure, temp...) You should use an extra LED strip for each window.

Installation:

• Truly Plug and Play wiring

• No wire cutting or splicing of the 914 harness(or the led harness)
• Gauge LED's have long leads and a quick disconnect block, Individual gauges can be pulled out for service
• A Single Grounding loop connects to the factory dash grounding post (above the fuse panel) with a new Stainless steel nut & star washers.
• A single power lead clips to fuse panel (1/4" spade piggy back) giving several 'on' choices - key on hot, always hot, or headlight circuit.
• Dimmer unplugs from both ends and easily mounts under steering wheel to the flat bottom of the metal dash with strong double sided tape. Hidden but easily adjustable while driving and doesn't interfere with legs, knees or getting in and out., or driving or shifting.
  This location is perfect, but it of course can be mounted anywhere.
